CSR - Doing it the Cooper way

As Gandhiji has said about Parsees “I am proud of my country for having produced the splendid Zoroastrian stock in numbers beneath contempt, but in quality and philanthropy perhaps unequalled, certainly unsurpassed”.

The Parsees have spread themselves all across the world. The glaring exception is the Cooper family which settled in the small town of Satara for more than a hundred years and has spearheaded the social reforms and economical uplift of the masses through social responsibility and entrepreneurship. Now there is only one Parsee family in Satara – the Coopers, who are still holding the mantle of social and economic upliftment!

Corporate Social Responsibility has been mandatory since the last couple of years, but Cooper has always been active and committed to social development. Our CSR polices are guided by following:

We consider society as one of the key stakeholders. Through sustainable measures, we actively contribute to the social, economic and environmental development of the community and thereby create value for the nation.

Our CSR Mission

Ensuring socio-economic development of the community through different facilitating participatory and need-based initiatives in the best interest of the community around and society at large, particularly focusing on the poor and deprived sections of the society and their children so as to help them become self-reliant and build a better tomorrow for themselves.

Cooper has carried out many CSR projects. Noteworthy among them are:
  • Established/ supported more than 200 libraries in the communities, schools and colleges.
  • In the year 2012 Cooper Corporation established a Reform Centre in Satara jail which consists of a library, LCD projector and change-oriented films, computer lab etc. There is a psychiatric who regularly visits for counselling.
  • Sainik School - set up a unique SAM N. Cooper Learning Center at Satara Military School, consisting of a library with e-readers, digital classrooms and an audio-visual centre.
  • Digitalized more than 44 classrooms with e-learning systems in six schools in Satara and around.
  • Financially supported water conservation projects including Amir Khan’s PAANI Foundation and other local NGOs.
  • During the time of current pandemic, Cooper has taken up the mantle to support society through various programmes.
